Senior Vice President, Mortgage & Real Estate Investments
Dean Atkins joined BCI in March 2001 and is the senior vice president, mortgage & real estate investments. He is responsible for Canadian and U.S. mortgage investments, as well as the oversight of QuadReal’s real estate investment strategy. With $145.6 billion of managed assets as of March 31, 2018, BCI is one of Canada’s largest institutional investors within the global capital markets.
Dean has 30 years of experience in commercial real estate, finance, and investments; he has been a member of BCI’s executive team for the past 16. Prior to that, he managed real estate and mortgage investments for Industrial Alliance Insurance and Financial Services Inc., and Seaboard Life Insurance Company.
He holds a bachelor of commerce in urban land and finance from the University of British Columbia; and an ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors, Canada; he is a CFA® charterholder; and a professional, accredited AACI member of the Appraisal Institute of Canada.
Dean serves on the board of directors for some of BCI’s real estate companies, such as Parkbridge. He previously served as a director on the QuadReal board, a company owned by BCI to manage our real estate assets and properties. In years previous, he served as director of Bentall Kennedy (Canada), Bentall Kennedy (U.S.), Landon Butler & Company, an American institutional investor relations firm, and APEX, a Canadian real estate development company.
