Victoria, British Columbia – BCI’s Infrastructure & Renewable Resources (I&RR) program has been named “Institutional Investor of the Year – Americas” by Agri Investor in its 2025 awards, recognizing the strength of its global real assets platform and long‑term investment approach. This honour reflects I&RR’s strategy of partnering with experienced operators to build scalable platforms in key high-conviction sectors, including timberland investments.
Building a global timberland and real assets portfolio
The award recognizes BCI’s recent investment in a southern Brazil-based, sustainably managed timberland platform, alongside BTG Pactual Timberland Investment Group and Brazilian pulp and paper manufacturer, Klabin. This transaction represented the first direct timberland investment in Brazil held by BCI’s I&RR program, and the third direct investment in the country. It was also named runner-up for Agri Investor’s “Deal of the Year – Americas” category. BCI I&RR currently has direct investments in six timberland platforms across five countries, including four co-investments alongside BTG Pactual. Timberland and agribusiness investments currently comprise approximately 18% of the program’s total portfolio.
The award reflects I&RR’s disciplined approach to originating and managing investments across core infrastructure and renewable resource sectors. By partnering with high‑quality operators and investing in resilient, inflation‑linked assets, the team seeks to deliver outcomes that align with the long-term priorities of our public sector pension and institutional clients.
“Our strategy is anchored in building a growing, globally diversified portfolio of real assets that creates sustainable, long-term value for our clients over decades. Renewable resource and natural capital investments continue to be an important component of our portfolio,” said Lincoln Webb, Executive Vice President & Global Head, Infrastructure & Renewable Resources, BCI. “This recognition by Agri Investor underscores the strength of our team and co‑investor relationships, and highlights how we continue to find unique and compelling opportunities across a broad range of investments.”
