    Michel Drolet

    Senior Managing Director, Finance & Operations

    Location: Victoria

    Michel joined BCI in 2018 and has held senior leadership roles across the organization, including serving as Senior Vice President, Corporate Risk & Audit. In this capacity, he supported the effective oversight of BCI’s enterprise risk profile, reporting to both the chair of the audit committee and the chief operating officer.

    As Senior Managing Director, Finance & Operations with Private Equity, Michel now oversees the financial and operating infrastructure underpinning BCI’s $33.6 billion private equity program. He leads capital and liquidity planning, portfolio analytics, valuations, and stakeholder reporting. He also provides leadership over four teams: Portfolio Monitoring & Reporting, PE Finance, PE Operations, and Business Administration.

    With $295 billion of gross managed assets as of March 31, 2025, BCI is one of Canada’s largest institutional investors within the global capital markets.

    Prior to joining BCI, Michel progressed through a series of roles in his 11 years at Canaccord Genuity, including his last three as the vice president and global head of internal audit.

    Michel holds a Bachelor of Business Administration, co-conferred by the University of British Columbia and Okanagan College. He is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CMA), a CFA® charterholder, and a graduate of INSEAD’s Advanced Management Programme.

    Michel also serves as a Board observer for Traxys, a global metals trading firm.

    Nick Falkiner

    Nick Falkiner joined BCI as an analyst in January 2018 and has since advanced to Senior Principal in the Infrastructure & Renewable Resources team. With $295 billion in assets under management as of March 31, 2025, BCI is one of Canada’s largest institutional investors, including $32.2 billion managed by the I&RR team.  

    Within the Infrastructure team, Nick shares responsibility for managing BCI’s investments in InTransit BC, BBGI Global Infrastructure S.A., and Corix District Energy Holdings LP.   

    Prior to joining BCI, Nick spent two years in Vancouver as a Business Analyst at the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority, where he gained valuable experience analyzing port operations and infrastructure development.  

    Nick holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Victoria and is a CFA charterholder, having completed all three levels of the CFA exams.

    Based in Victoria, British Columbia, Jamie’s role covers sourcing and executing new investments primarily focused in North America, as well as managing existing infrastructure investments. Jamie serves as an Alternate Director of Puget Sound Energy and as an observer on Cleco.

    Kenton Freitag joined BCI in 2010 as a Senior Credit Analyst and has covered investment grade debt, high yield debt, and project finance debt across most industries. He is currently the Senior Managing Director for the Principal Credit Fund. With $295 billion of managed assets as of March 31, 2025, BCI is one of Canada’s largest institutional investors within the global capital markets.

    Prior to joining BCI, his previous experience in credit included nine years at Standard & Poor’s in Toronto and seven years with Export Development Canada in Ottawa.

    He has a Master’s in Economics from UBC and a B. Comm from Queen’s University and is a CFA® charterholder.

    Paris is a Senior Director on the Infrastructure and Renewable Resource  Investments team of the British Columbia Investment Management Corporation (“BCI”). Paris joined BCI in 2017 and provides transaction and board level leadership within BCI’s global energy and utilities portfolio. With $295 billion of gross managed assets as of March 31, 2025, BCI is one of Canada’s largest institutional investors within the global capital markets. 

    Based in Victoria, British Columbia, BCI invests in all major asset classes including fixed income, mortgages, public equities, private equity, real estate, infrastructure and renewable resources.  

    Paris serves as a member of the Board of Directors or Committee Chair of investee companies including: Cleco, a US electrical utility; Open Grid Europe and NTS, natural gas pipelines in Germany and Brazil respectively; and Emicool, a UAE district cooling business.  

    Paris has more than 20 years of experience in the energy and utilities sector, having worked across Canada on environmental and energy policy; greenfield power generation development; district energy; transaction advisory; and operational optimisation including commodity pricing and hedging.  

    Paris holds an MBA (specialised in Natural Resources and Energy) from the University of Alberta in Canada and a B.Eng. Honors in Mineral Resources Engineering from the Technical University of Crete, in Greece.

    Anne-Marie Gagnon

    Anne-Marie Gagnon joined BCI in 2013 and oversees the implementation of BCI’s ESG strategy in credit, including investments in sustainable bonds, and oversees the stewardship program with public companies. This includes BCI’s involvement with investor-led initiatives such as Climate Action 100+. With $295 billion of managed assets as of March 31, 2025, BCI is one of Canada’s largest institutional investors within the global capital markets.

    Prior to BCI, Anne-Marie served as Regional Manager for Africa and the Middle East at Export Development Canada, a federal crown corporation and Canada’s export credit agency. In this role, she was responsible for business development in support of Canadian exporters and investors in emerging markets.

    Anne-Marie earned an undergraduate degree in business administration with a major in finance from the Université de Sherbrooke and a graduate degree in public and international affairs from the University of Ottawa. She holds a Global Competent Board designation and serves on the board of the Canadian Bond Investors’ Association.

    Adam Goehner

    Adam Goehner is responsible for overseeing BCI’s total portfolio ESG risk exposure and leads efforts to identify climate-related investment opportunities. He has established an industry-leading risk and opportunity identification framework and supports investment strategy, due diligence, and value creation activities in both public and private markets. Additionally, Adam provides strategic counsel to pension trustees, portfolio managers, and members of BCI’s senior leadership.     Adam has over 15 years of experience in climate and sustainability working with many of Canada’s largest companies, small startups, and federal and provincial governments. His background includes advising public and private venture investments in climate tech, developing corporate sustainability and climate change strategies, and supporting climate technology development accelerators.

    Adam holds a degree in civil and environmental engineering from the University of British Columbia.

    Susan holds an MBA from the University of Fredericton’s Sandermoen School of Business focused on social enterprise leadership and currently serves as a board member of the Pension Investment Association of Canada, and previously chaired their Investor Stewardship Committee.

    Sebastian spent the first 10 years of his career in manufacturing operations within the paper industry.  Sebastian holds an MBA from the University of Oxford and a B.A.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of British Columbia.  

    Sebastian represents BCI on the board of directors for Global Containers Terminal, Patrick Terminals, Mosaic Forest Management, and Nexus Water Group.

    Grant Hodgkins joined BCI as Director in September 2017 and is responsible for sourcing, executing and managing investments, with a focus on Power & Utilities and Energy in North America. With $295 billion of managed assets as of March 31, 2025, BCI is one of Canada’s largest institutional investors within the global capital markets, $32.2 billion of which is managed by the I&RR team.  

    Prior to joining BCI, Grant was an Advisor with KPMG serving institutional investors with a focus on infrastructure investments. Before that, he spent 7 years in corporate development roles with Fortis Inc. and Interfor Corporation.  

    He is a Chartered Professional Accountant, a CFA charterholder and Chartered Business Valuator and holds a Bachelor of Science in Behavioural Neuroscience from the University of British Columbia.  

    Grant serves on the Board of Puget Sound Energy —a Washington State gas and electric utility; BBGI Infrastructure – a global concession-focused platform located in Luxembourg, Corix – a district energy business located in Vancouver and BBGI, a Luxembourg-based P3 infrastructure platform.
