BCI Private Equity is among the top LPs in North America allocating funds to private equity, according to a recent ranking by Buyouts Insider.

BCI jumped two ranks and is now the 11th largest private equity allocator among the biggest LPs in the U.S. and Canada, Buyout Insider said in its annual ranking. Led by EVP and Global Head Jon Salon, BCI Private Equity deployed $6.7 billion CAD last year through a combination of fund investments, direct investments, and financing structures like continuation vehicles, structured equity, and side cars.

“Our program does a very good job at managing our liquidity,” Salon said in a recent interview. “We have a very flexible governance structure that allows us to review and approve deals quite efficiently.”

The Buyouts Insider ranking noted that BCI had a PE allocation of $25.5 billion USD. A recent addition to BCI’s PE program is the Capital Solutions Group, which uses hybrid capital financing structures to allow BCI to access assets more flexibly. BCI is deploying hybrid capital solutions across sectors from consumer and technology to industrials and business services.

“When you combine those capabilities, it creates a competitive advantage in the marketplace,” Salon said.

As an asset class, the 100 largest North American LPs increased their PE portfolios by 6.3% to $1.5 trillion USD in the period ending in December 2025, despite significant headwinds including longer holding periods, according to Buyouts Insider.
